TyanPSC - the OEM business unit of Tyan Computer Corporation - has launched the Typhoon 600 series, its next generation personal supercomputer (PSC). Using Intel Xeon 5300 “Clovertown” processors.
The TyanPSC Typhoon 600 series is a platform designed to solve the computational challenges individual scientists and workgroups face in environments that traditionally do not have access to local supercomputing.
The Typhoon 600 series PSC is purpose-built to be deployed and used like a PC, removing the complexity and management that is usually expected from a system that provide 256 gigaflops.
Typhoon 600 Series Features:
- 256 gigaflops peak performance
- 1400 Watts max, plugs into standard wall outlet
- Small form factor, portable
- Low-noise, whisper quiet operation… less than 52dB.
- Easy to use Personal Supercomputer using Microsoft Windows Computer Cluster Server 2003
- Up to 40 CPU cores per system
The Typhoon 600 Series starts under £10,000, with general availability in January 2007.
