If there is one thing to get the Star Wars juices flowing its the site of seeing R2D2 project DVD's onto a wall and being controlled by a cool looking Millennium Falcon remote control. The Projector was first seen in CES 2007 and only available for the US market, but now its available for pre-order in Europe. Stocks are limited, but for the price there should be a few left!
Essentially the R2D2 DVD Projector (developed by Nikko Home Electronics) costs a staggering €2799 which is £2,188. However it seems Play.com have got this available on pre-order now at just under £2000.
R2D2
For the price you could buy an amazing hi-fi setup, so only the hard core fans would go for this. But for your money the R2 unit can be used to project movies onto any flat surface, has an integrated iPod dock, connections for gameconsoles (PS3, XBox 360 and Wii), audio and video in/out ports, an integrated DVD/CD-player, memorycard slots and on top of that it has a cool Millennium Falcon remote! - get the cold showers running -ed.
The Millennium Falcon can also be used to drive R2 around and spin his headunit, plus just like R2 in the films his legs can be moved backwards - so the picture can be displayed on the ceiling - and he has 11 original sounds from the Star Wars films embedded within his carcase for that ultimate realism.

Safety Sensors
R2-D2 DVD Projector has two sensors that help prevent the unit from getting damaged. Leg sensors are located next to its legs to prevent something getting inbetween them when they are moving backwards and projector sensors will monitor the minimal projector distance (1,5m) between R2 and a wall. Both sensors will give a warning sound when triggered.
MLLENNIUM FALCON Remote Control
The Millennium Falcon remote is contained within a control panel that slides out when the panel is pushed. The buttons will light up and all the functions to control R2 are present, from motion controls, to DVD playback.
Both the propulsion system and the cockpit are fitted with light effects and the R2-D2 DVD Projector pack includes a stand for the Millennium Falcon. When the button on the stand is pushed, Millennium Falcon sounds can be heard.
