Sony have announced a new range of features on its new IQ recording DVD Recorders the RDR-GX220 & RDR-GX120. The I stands for Intelligent and the Q stands for ‘Quality’, this technology features High Picture quality on Disc recording, Chasing playback, easy to use GUI and multiformat recording and playback.

In addition to DVD+R/+RW Discs the latest models can record and playback DVD+R Double Layer (DL) discs with a maximum 8.5GB capacity allowing you to store up to 14 hours of recordings on DVD disc. In addition, RDR-GX120 and RDR-GX220 can also record and playback DVD-R/-RW Discs.

When recording in DVD with RDR-GX220, you can activate the Chasing Playback function to begin watching a programme currently being recorded before it has finished. In addition, the Simultaneous Record and Playback function allows viewers to watch pre-recorded content on DVD whilst recording a live TV programme.

In addition, the Auto Programme Title Labelling feature (where available) allows you to browse through pre-recorded contents on DVD, as each TV recording comes with a given title - thus saving time and hassle.

Going even more techie the Sonys products ensure high picture quality on DVD in realising 500 line of horizontal resolution on 3H Rec Mode.

Together with Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) technology – only with RDR-GX220 - Component Video Output and Video DAC of 12bit/108MHz, the new models should ensure a stable and smooth moving image.

The RDR-GX220 will be available in Europe from April 2006 and the RDR-GX120 will be available in Europe from June 2006.
