Bamboo - from Wacom - is a new consumer pen tablet that enables users to unlock powerful pen-based features found in current operating systems, especially Microsoft’s Windows Vista.
The gadgety Bamboo is aimed at consumers in any home office or workplace and can be used as an advanced input device for the computer, enhancing the experience for those working with office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email, offering new and individual ways of using a computer.
Bamboo incorporates Wacom’s experience of developing intuitive input devices, making the technology accessible to a mass market.
The wide-format, A6 size of the tablet combined with an ergonomically designed cordless and battery-free digital pen, optimises the handwriting experience, as well as echoing the trend towards widescreen PCs and laptops in the marketplace today. The pressure sensitive pen provides a natural tool for freehand writing, annotating and navigating. Bamboo’s portable size makes it perfect for mobile workers.
Bamboo unlocks advanced pen functionality such as intelligent handwriting recognition. Scribbled notes from a telephone call or meeting are accurately converted into typed text at the touch of a button. Hand drawn sketches and shapes can also be converted into symbols, charts and diagrams. Similar features are unlocked in Mac OS using Inkwell.
Bamboo is priced at £69.99 including VAT.
