PC
Via the dedicated PC socket (D-Sub connector) we could happily work within Windows at its max 1360 x 768 (60hz) resolution, though for some older games the screen was not scaled properly, so we had to make manual adjustments to the horizontal and vertical positioning, but at least it was full screen.
Sound Quality
Unlike most TV combos the sound output was one of its best features, the two-way four speakers with 8w of sound output - which are mounted at the base of the TV - were quite loud and spoken words were audibly clear.
You also have various options for enhancing the above, with a quick press of a button changing the style of sound (movie mode, speech for example). Plus the Tru-surround mode will give you a feeling that the sound is coming from multiple speakers and though its not true surround, this mode certainly does give the sound a richer tone to the dialogue and on-screen action.
According to the specs there is also Sub-woofer output.
Design
From a design point of view the black finish is tweaked with a touch of silver down the sides of the screen, but the screen itself is not really eye catching or modern enough for our liking.
The speaker box underneath the screen - which also doubles as the speaker stand - was bulky and the overall feel was a touch plastic(e).
The stand was also fixed so you could not rotate the screen.
But at least the buttons for controlling the TV (if you were standing by the set) were positioned at the top of the screen for easy access, but they were not as responsive as we would have liked.
Port locations are well positioned mind, with S-video, headphone and video/audio out ports located at the side of the unit and the other ports underneath at the back of the TV.
Conclusion
After a few weeks of use we found the TV-set to be more than adequate. It’s got good sound quality, a descent picture and a stack of connectivity inputs.
If you can live with the 14:9 ratio when viewing TV (does not affect all programs) then there is enough features to satisfy you when you decide to view programs or watch DVD's from the comfort of your bedroom.
However at £400 it is a lot to ask for, even with all of its connectivity options.
