 ReVoice Singtones’ new online community means fans of the record-your-own ringtone service don’t just get personalised ringtones, they also get personal by allowing you to use your own voice for the tone.
Essentially Singtones are recorded using the free downloadable Singtone Studio PC software.
The system then enhances the user’s voice so it sounds perfectly in-tune and in-time. Users can listen to both the polished ‘fixed’ version of a Singtone and the ‘raw’ recording. Either version can be sent from Singtone Studio to mobiles: to their own or their friends’. For those who want to make Singtones on the move or don’t have a compatible PC, there is also a phone-in Singtone Studio (Lite) service.
Singtones can then be auditioned online so friends can hear, rate and write comments on each other’s recordings of pop songs – complimentary or otherwise. Now Singtones can be downloaded from the website directly to their mobiles to use as ringtones that uniquely identify the caller.
As Singtone Studio measures and scores the pitch accuracy of each vocal performance, the Singtones community is a competitive environment, with friends vying to beat each other’s scores and posting personal critiques of each other’s attempts.
