One of the biggest issues with the iPhone was its phone element, which sounds daft, but if you strip away all the glossy overtones the iPhone was little more than a basic phone with no 3G support and a poor camera. However with news or you could argue potential rumours that the iPhone 2 is set to be released in the US in June - which incorporates the missing 3G aspect - could this promote the iPhone as the ultimate mobile device?
We know doubt believe that the boosted speed will be the new killer feature, though we are unsure if the camera will get any treatment.
As with most news/rumours pieces the details are always thin on the ground, however there has been talk of enhanced Wi-Fi and possible GPS support, but its all guess work really - until the official press releases arrive that is.
The new iPhone with its 3G support will operate on AT&T’s high speed network in the USA (as AT&T are the exclusive sellers over there), which was kind of expected as AT&T announced recently that is expanding its 3G network heavily across the US.
No news on a Europe release date as you would expect.
It’s also likely that once the iPhone 2 gets released, the older model will see a massive price cut, meaning the iPhone will become available to a whole new set of consumers who are more budget minded.
