 Well after all the wait there seems to be a fair few online stores already stocking the Nokia N96, so if you wanted to get hold of a sim-free version, now's your chance.
Doing the online rounds the best prices we have seen so far for the N96 are over at Handtec, Clove and possibly Nokia's own store (link at the base of the news piece). Of course you will also be able to get the device on-contract as well, so its best to keep your eyes open on the main players such as Orange, Vodafone and possibly O2 now.
Spec wise Nokia have never got back to us regarding the inclusion or exclusion of the 3D Hardware chip - which was featured in the N95GB - but we would not hold out much hope. It seems Nokia will market the N96 more so as a Video/TV platform than a 100% replacement to the N958GB, thanks primarily to its DVB-H tuner.
The latter of which is a kind of dead squid in the UK to be honest, as the service is not supposed to work fully untill next year or possible 2010 - so we were told. Though the N96 is set to get an iPlayer client of some sort (we are not sure if this is accurate or not), so at least you can get access to BBC programs (over a data connection) to tide you over.
