Korean-based Samsung, vying with Apple for leadership in the smartphone market, grew its brand value by +51% (compared to a weighted average of +7% growth in the Top 100 overall) to $21 billion. It moved up 25 places to no.30 in the eighth annual Millward Brown Optimor BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands ranking despite the value growth of technology brands remaining flat.

China's Search Engine Baidu is Making Smart Glasses
Baidu, China’s largest search engine, has been confirmed to be working on their own form of smart glasses designed to “leverage Baidu’s strengths in image search and facial recognition.” Baidu’s smart glasses, or the ‘Baidu Eye’ as they are called internally, would consist of a small LCD screen tacked over one eye with a front facing camera, which will be attached to a slim headset.

Virgin Media WiFi arrives at 20 more London Underground stations
Another 20 London Underground stations have come online thanks to Virgin Media’s WiFi service on London Underground. The new stations, including Camden Town, Clapham Common Notting Hill Gate and Russell Square, bring the total number of WiFi enabled stations to 92 with a further 28 stations due to come online in early 2013*.
