Yep you have read the title correctly, a new unique way of keeping your trusty PC cool. Just before you make tea why not spare some oil, approx 8 Gallons of the stuff and submerge your computer in it!
Toms hardware have just done this and with their Athlon FX-55 decided to see if it made much difference regarding temperature (at Max load their test rig reached 40oc. Amazingly they said that the PC did not short out, which you would expect when being submerged in some form of liquid but in theory the idea is sound considering that oil is designed to stop your chicken burning so why not try it on a PC?
Of course you must make sure you have a sealed case otherwise just imagine the mess on the floor.
The article shows you how you can make your own cooking oil mod, which does look kinda of cool in a transparent case, personally I would not try this on a system that could have cost nearly £2000 but this cooking oil lark could make way for lots of cool overclocking ideas - nearly forgot also check out some of their video downloads which shows the case in action).
