Description
The T-Mobile MDA Vario III is essentially the HTC TyTN II, but the T-Mobile version comes with a few customisations to its exterior and provides a range of utilities alongside the useful Co-Pilot Live 7 GPS software.
Box Content
Surprisingly the Vario III does not come with a car cradle, but we managed to scope the web and find one for a tenner over at
Mobilefun. But T-Mobile do provide a usb cable, a pair of headphones, mains adaptor, CD with Active Sync 4.5, a hefty user manual and a screen protector.

Design
Compared to the HTC TyTN II, T-Mobile have provided a silver exterior coating that looks a lot better than the dull drab colours of the latter and the bottom set of buttons are also slightly different - plus comfortable to press. Though on the whole the device still feels heavy at 190g.
To the left hand side you have a handy jog wheel for navigating around the Windows Mobile 6 professional OS and above there is a shortcut button to access voice speed dials, which you can configure for contacts or applications.
To the right-hand side you have a camera shortcut button and your main power on/off switch.
For accessing your memory card slot (microSD) you won't have to remove the battery cover as this is placed just under the front buttons and your sim card can be inserted easily as it situates underneath the slide-out keyboard.
As keyboards go the backlit Qwerty Keyboard is one of the best and it was easy to type emails or text messages, plus the screen rotates automatically to landscape when activated and the screen can be angled back to get a better viewing angle.
The supplied headphones are a touch plastic and they require a propriety USB connection to work (there is no 3.5mm socket). Saying that at least you have a rotary volume control wheel on the headset and the quality - via music playback - was not bad.
Its interface has been customised with all of HTC's touches, so the home screen has shortcut keys for your contacts, weather forecast, application launcher, sound profile and task manger.
