Sound
Again there is not much you can do with the sound effects, but EA have added the typical sounds you would find on most Golf courses, like the sounds of a plane overhead, the clapping of the crowds and Tiger mumbling to himself or celebrating in typical Tiger Woods fashion. You also have some running commentary from a couple of Americans, who most of the time take the mickey out of you and themselves.
Features
One really cool idea introduced to the game is the Photo Face mode. By importing digital images or using the PlayStation EyeToy you can get a digital version of yourself playing in the game.
It takes a while to get things lined up with the facial features and to create the face in the first place, but it is cool addition (more so as you can customise your garb and hair colour for example) and its funny seeing your face in the game.
Multiplayer
As mentioned earlier playing against your mates is the best way to play Tiger Woods 08, though the single player will give you some enjoyment it’s the online multiplayer modes that will keep the game alive.
With the multiplayer side of things the game allows two to four players to join in on the action and there was no problems with lag that we could see when playing online.
You can join in on Online Tournaments in EA sponsored events or you can try your hand at the two arcade modes, Battle Golf or One Ball.
Battle Golf allows you to pick from one of 16 classic courses, a random 18 hole course or one that you create your own and the winner of each hole can remove a club form his opponents bag or take one back of his own.
The One ball option allows up to four people to hit alternative shots until the ball is in the hole.
It’s the addition of GamerNet that is the most interesting option, this allows you to set up your own challenges online and gives you the chance to show off your Golfing talents for the world to see. The option is also labelled with adjustable parameters so you can set restrictions on what would happen if a ball went over a given yardage that sort of thing.
