 BenQ has sent us a mailer informing us of the launch of three new HD Home Cinema Projectors into the UK market. The products in question are the W10000, W9000 and W500.
W500
Spec Overview: 720p/1080i – 3 LCD system - 5000:1 contrast – HQV – 28dB
The W500 provides an LCD home cinema alternative at a price of £699 inc VAT, the W500 is a 720p home cinema projector that is not only HD-ready but can also upscale SD content into HD-quality format to ensure the optimum viewing experience. It features an iris-like lens design for truer black tones and enhanced detail, and the Multi-Dimensional Diagonal Filtering (MCCF) technology to prevent ghosting.
Extras including HQV (Hollywood Quality Video) processing, horizontal and vertical lens shift.
W9000
Spec Overview: 1080p –DarkChip2 DLP system - 8500:1 contrast – HQV – 23dB – ISFccc calibration
BenQ’s W9000 is BenQ first Full-HD 1080p projector and is one of the first projectors in this quality league available for below £2499 inc VAT. Equipped with a specially coated 8 Segment colour wheel, 10-bit colour processing, Motorised Iris, low 23dB noise, and coming with ISF calibration as standard, the W9000 should provide stunning image quality, using TI’s DLP Darkchip2 technology.
The W9000 is one of the very few projectors fully supporting the 1080p/24fps standard, for HD video at 24 frames per second—the format for professional movie filming, production and editing, and used in Blu-ray disc players.
W10000

The W10000 brings professional projection to consumers. Utilising the latest DarkChip3 DLP DMD panel from Texas Instruments, this full HD projector features an impressive 10000:1 contrast ratio, a specially coated 8 segment colour wheel, and 1200 ANSI lumens.
The projector also features ISF calibration service to ensure a perfectly calibrated picture quality, along with two optimized modes: ISF Day and Night, for maximum viewing pleasure. The W10000 is available for £4499 inc VAT.
